Thunderbird Mk1 Launch Sequence

Sequence of digital photos taken March 9th, 2002. This flight was powered by a central I160 surrounded by four (4) F24's in the boosters. All motors were lit by Davyfire tungsten igniters. Notice that one motor (booster on left) doesn't fire until frame 10 (second row, last frame) after the rocket is off the launch rod.

In this particular flight only three booster motors fired and the flight arced downrange. Because this was also downwind, it is difficult to know how much of the arc was caused by weathercocking and how much was caused by uneven thrust. Probably both. The rocket arcs away from the camera, so it is not easily discernable in these photos.

We want your opinion, so make like a Chicago Democrat and vote early, vote often, vote even if you are dead. However, as this is an electronic ballot, West Palm Beach Democrats will need to find a better excuse than hanging or pregnant chads for failing to properly fill out the form.
