SS1 Radio Controls, Servos, and Control Arms

Because none of the Vatsaas brothers don't have any expertise in RC aircraft, Gerald Meux was recruited to the team. Gerald has been working with RC aircraft for years -- and although this project was outside of his experience (it is outside of nearly EVERYONE'S experience) he had enough resources to seek out answers if he had questions.

Here is the brand-spanking new gear that he installed in the SS1 in order to make it fly:

  • DX2.0 7 channel radio.
  • are JR ST126MGservos . They have 142 oz/in of torque and a speed of .17 sec/60 degrees.
  • Team Orion 1600Mah 6.0V battery pack
  • Upgraded servo arms and control surface linkage. It is all heavy duty.

Gerald mounted the radio receiver and battery onto the access panel so that we would have better access to it.

Gerald has a lot more hobbies than the average guy. Apparently none of them has anything to do with cooking.

Gerald and his experts advised that the elevon should be fixed rather than rotate, so he beefed up the mounting scheme.
